Vincent Munlin Jr., the Cincinnati kid who became a cornerstone of Eastern Kentucky University’s football revival, is headed north of the border. On Thursday, May 1, 2025, the versatile offensive lineman inked a free-agent deal with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League, a well-earned shot at the pros for a guy who’s been paving the way for the Colonels since he was Walt Wells’ first signee in Richmond. Munlin’s not just a feel-good story—he’s a battle-tested, accolade-stacking road-grader who’s ready to make his mark in the CFL.
Munlin’s EKU career reads like a highlight reel. A three-year starter who played in 48 games and started 35, he was the heartbeat of an offensive line that churned out 14,763 yards of total offense during his tenure, including 2,422 rushing yards in 2024 alone—third-best in the conference. Switching to right tackle for his senior year, Munlin started every game as the Colonels roared to an 8-4 record, capped by a five-game win streak and their second FCS Playoff appearance in three years. His work earned him Phil Steele Third Team All-UAC honors in 2024, after a Fourth Team All-ASUN nod in 2022, plus an invite to the Dream Bowl All-Star Showcase. From helping EKU snag an ASUN title in 2022 to anchoring a playoff-bound squad, Munlin’s been a difference-maker.
Now, he’s joining a Montreal Alouettes squad that’s no stranger to winning, boasting eight Grey Cup titles, including one in 2023. Coming off a 12-5-1 season and an Eastern Division crown, the Alouettes fell just short in a 30-28 playoff heartbreaker to Toronto, the eventual champs. Munlin becomes the second Colonel in the CFL, joining EKU teammate and 2024 Grey Cup champ Jeremy Edwards with the Argonauts. For a kid who’s spent his career opening holes and protecting quarterbacks, this is the next chapter—and don’t bet against him making it a big one. photo courtesy EKU Athletics
