From Bounce Back to Breakout: Cardinals vs. James Madison Then and Now

Louisville came into that James Madison matchup sitting at 5-3, Coach Satterfield still running the ship, but folks already had one eye turned on what’s next in Cardinal Country. Early on, the Cards took some lumps, dropping tough games to Syracuse, Florida State, and Boston College.

But this roster didn’t fold. Louisville bounced back, stacking wins over UCF, blowing out South Florida, and going on the road to dunk on Virginia. Pitt got handled, and then came the big one, smacking a ranked Wake Forest squad and showing real juice on both sides of the ball.

Momentum was shifting in the Ville. Three straight Ws, defense locking folks up, offense moving with rhythm, and Satterfield proving he could pivot under pressure. Everybody in the city knew: Louisville was hungry and building something. After that season, Satterfield headed Cincinnati, but the heartbeat in 502 was ready for the next chapter with Jeff Brohm set to take over.

That’s the vibe the Cards had going into that battle with James Madison a few years back. They host James Madison under the Friday night lights, and look to set the tone for a big season.
