The University of Louisville plays Michigan State for a spot in the final four in Indianapolis. Analysts and critics believed it was unlikely for Louisville to be competitive after Chris Jones dismissal.
Local standout(Ballard) and 2014 KY Mr.Basketball Quentin Snider had other ideas.
The freshman went from riding the pine to being in the spotlight. Snider quickly fit in with his unselfish play which resembles a veteran and composure on both ends of the hardwood. Snider stepped right in and contributed helping Louisville and coach Pitino make another magical run in March.
Snider went from having a front row seat to after game pressers due to his solid performances. Snider increased his minutes, points, and number of after game showers.
Snider said watching from the bench was a big key to his success. Snider noticed the team playing too much 1 on 1 ball instead of playing as a cohesive unselfish unit.
Snider’s game consists running the offense efficiently by protecting the ball,breaking down his opponent, slashing in the lane to score or find an open teammate.
Snider can also space out the opponent’s defense with his 3 point shot. Snider is also effective without the ball by cutting and knowing where to be at any given moment.
Snider has 111 mins of tournament action and only 3 turnovers. That stat is astonishing and rivals the best guards in collegiate basketball.
Snider was averaging 13 points going into the NC State game which he scored 8.
On defense Snider has held his own in Louisville’s full court press. Snider with high basketball IQ gives Pitino confidence to switch from man to a zone in the half court.
Snider chose the perfect school and coach to get the most out of his talents. Something Rick Pitino is known for during his coaching career.
Pitino recruits players who he in can develop into a game changer in 3 to 4 years like Peyton Siva and Russ Smith.
Snider is achieving success in his first year which Pitino isn’t used to in his career at Louisville.
It’s great to see an in state player help lead a big time and successful program to a deep run into the tournament especially as a freshman.
Snider and the Cardinals tip off at 2:20 against Tom Izzo and his Spartans. If you haven’t watched any Louisville games in the tournament make sure to look for #2 for the Cardinals.
