Kentucky cross country’s Brennan Fields was named Southeastern Conference Freshman Runner of the Week after a solid debut at the Wildcats Opener.
Fields placed fourth overall and was UK’s No. 3 finisher at the season-opening Wildcat Opener.
The Richmond, Kentucky, product ran a 4k time of 12:00.24 in his first collegiate race, helping UK to a season-opening team victory.

The Kentucky men’s team was picked to finish fourth, and the women’s team was projected to be 10th at the 2016 SEC Championships by league coaches.
The Kentucky women’s team was ranked No. 7 in the USTFCCCA Southeast Region to begin the season. The Kentucky men’s team was ranked No. 10 in the Southeast Region.
