UL’s McFerran Helps Irish Field Hockey to World League 2 Title

The 2016 NCAA field hockey season ended in November, but University of Louisville field hockey player Ayeisha McFerran has returned to action – this time as a member of the Irish National Team which recently won the World League 2 title in Kuala Lumpur.

McFerran, who was named Goalkeeper of the Tournament after the Irish beat Malaysia 3-0 in the final game. The UofL sophomore allowed only one goal throughout six games in the tournament to help the Green Army advance to the World League 3 championship. McFerran, is in her third season as a member of the Irish National Team and now has 54 caps.

The Larne, Northern Ireland native recently completed her sophomore season at UofL, earning her second straight National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-America honors in 2016. She is a two-time All-West region selection and was named to the All-ACC first team as a sophomore after leading the conference with 6.5 shutouts.
