No. 5 UK Rifle takes Second at Withrow Invitational

The fifth-ranked Kentucky rifle team improved to a 20-4 record on the season after it concluded this weekend’s Withrow Invitational at Murray State.

The Wildcats finished second of nine teams in the field following a 4679 aggregate score, comprised of a 2361 in air rifle and 2318 in smallbore. Third-ranked Murray State, host of the invitational, finished in first place.

Heather Kirby led the way again as she emerged as the top individual for UK with an 1173 aggregate score. The senior shot a 593 in air rifle for the fourth time this season.

Cathryn Papasodora followed right behind Kirby in sixth place with a 588 in air rifle and 584 in smallbore for an 1172 aggregate.

Hanna Carr and Jason Spaude rounded out the ninth and tenth places after shooting 1169 aggregate scores to land four Wildcats in the top-10 individuals, which was the most of any team at the invitational.

The Wildcats will travel to Columbus, Ohio, for their next match to take on Ohio State on Sunday, Jan. 29.
