Louisville Field Hockey Place Five on All-ACC Academic Team

The University of Louisville’s Lotta Kahlert, Erin McCrudden, Shannon Sloss, Marigrace Ragsdale and Nicole Woods were named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Team as announced by Commissioner John Swofford Wednesday.

Kahlert a senior midfielder from Hamburg, Germany earns the league academic honor for the third straight season. The 2016 team co-captain is a three-year starter and earned 2016 Longstreth/NFHCA All-West Region second team honors after scoring a career-best nine goals and dishing out three assists for 21 points.

The sport administration and health and human performance major is a three-time NFHCA Scholar of Distinction and National Academic Team selection. She is also a two-time ACC honor roll member and six-time Dean’s Scholar.

McCrudden, a midfielder from Putnam Valley, N.Y., is a two-time All-ACC Academic Team selection. The 2016 NFHCA All-American is coming off of a career-best senior campaign which also included All-West Region first team, All-ACC second team honors and a selection to the NFHCA Senior Game. She accrued 22 points and led the conference and was second in the nation with 18 assists.

The health and human performance major is a two-time ACC honor roll selection. She has earned NFHCA National Academic Squad honors twice and has been named to the Athletic Director’s honor roll four times.

Ragsdale, a forward from St. Louis, Mo., played in every game for the Cardinals during her junior season and scored two goals while finishing second on the team with 12 assists. The finance major is a 2016 ACC Academic Honor Roll selection, a two-time NFHCA National Academic Squad member and has been named to the Athletic Directors Honor Roll four times.

This marks the second ACC Academic Team selection for Sloss, a senior forward from Pequea, Pa. The three-year starter finished her senior campaign with five goals and two assists and tallied 51 career points.

The health and human performance major is a three-time NFHCA National Academic Squad and two-time all-ACC honor roll selection. She has been named to the Athletic Director’s honor roll in each of her semesters while earning Dean’s List honors three times.

Woods, a junior forward/midfielder from Beverly, Mass., earns ACC Academic Team honors for the second time in her career. The two-time All-ACC selection finished her junior season with five goals and 10 assists and stood fourth on the team with 20 points. She was recently named to USA Field Hockey’s Under-21 team for the second straight season.

The middle/secondary education major is a two-time NFHCA Academic Squad member and has been named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll twice while earning Athletic Director’s honor roll honors in each of her semesters at Louisville.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

Louisville finished the 2016 season with a 15-6 overall record and made its third-consecutive NCAA appearance. The Cardinals were ranked No. 9 in the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Poll after spending the entire regular season ranked in the top 10, reaching as high as No. 6.
