The Murray State Racers came away with a split of a pair of matches Sunday at KenLake Tennis Center, in Aurora, Kentucky.
After losing 4-2 to the Central Arkansas Bears in a morning match, they bounced back in the afternoon and beat the Southern Illinois Salukis 5-2.
The Racers improved to 2-3, while SIU fell to 0-4.
The match came down to the third set between Racers’ newcomer Anja Loncarevic and SIU’s Xiwea Cai. The Murray State freshman prevailed in the deciding set and took the match 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.
The Racers also scored singles wins for Claire Chang, Amina Hadzic and Sara Loncarevic.
MSU started with taking two of three matches in doubles play. MSU’s tandems of Sara Bjork & Jeanne Masson won 6-4 and Anja and Sara Loncarevic won 7-5.
The Racers are back in action this weekend with a Sunday match at East Tennessee State (Feb. 19) and Monday (Feb. 20) at Chattanooga.
