The Thomas More College men’s golf team is in fourth place after a first round 323 today (Saturday, March 25, 2017) at the Mount St. Joseph University Invitational played at Aston Oaks Golf Club in North Bend, Ohio.
The Saints were led by senior Jimmy Kelley (California, Ky./Bishop Brossart) and first-year Kyle Alexander (Taylorsville, Ky./Spencer County), who tied for 18th with matching 79’s. Junior Carter Hibbard (Florence, Ky./Boone County) is tied for 31st with an 82, senior Darron Hampton (Maysville, Ky./Mason County) is tied for 37th with an 83 and sophomore Matt Striegel Cold Springs, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) is tied for 69th with an 88.
Two Saints competed as individuals as first-year Max Knisley (Washington Court House, Ohio/Washington) is tied for 46th with an 84 and first-year Zack Baynum (California, Ky./Campbell County) is tied for 57th with an 87.
Hanover College leads the team standings with a 320, while Transylvania University’s Carson Wattenbarger leads the individual standings with a 70.
The second and final round will be contested tomorrow at Aston Oaks.
