Northern Kentucky men’s tennis fell to cross-river foe Xavier on Tuesday afternoon. With the loss, NKU drops to 6-8 overall, while the Musketeers advance to 7-12.
Match Notables
· Xavier took the opening point with wins in No. 1 and 3 doubles.
· Mate Virag recorded the only point for the Norse, taking down Matt Bishop in the No. 1 singles match, 6-3, 6-1.
· The Musketeers were able to clinch the match with wins in No. 2, 3 and 4 singles. On the No. 2 court, Jeremy Schneider took down Lukas Clemens, 6-3, 6-2. Javier Araya fell to Jack Dykema in the No. 3 spot in matching 6-4 sets. In the No. 4 singles match, Trent Smith recorded a 6-2, 6-4 win over Court Clark.
· Both Andrew Niehaus and Blaine Carr recorded 6-4 wins in their opening sets before their matches were abandoned.
· NKU takes on Wright State on Saturday, April 22, in the final regular-season dual match of the year. The Norse host the Raiders for Senior Day at approximately 2:30 p.m. ET, following the conclusion of the NKU women’s match.
