Four Named to the Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame All-Commonwealth Team

Four Kentucky State University football players have been named to the 2017 Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame All-Commonwealth Team.

Sponsored by Community Trust Bank, the Kentucky Collegiate All-Commonwealth Team is a pre-season recognition award for football players attending a Kentucky college or university. The Kentucky Collegiate All-Commonwealth Team represents the best college football players that the state of Kentucky has to offer while their dedication to the game has contributed significantly to their teams. The player shall have the distinctive responsibility to lead his teammates in the classroom and on the field.

Seniors Lavelle Cloyd, Donovan Cecil, Rodriquez Jones, and Ryan Luckett were the four honorees selected from the Thorobreds football program.

Lloyd will enter 2017 as the top returning rusher from a year ago with 325 yards from scrimmage and three rushing touchdowns. The Lexington, Kentucky native recorded his top performance of 2016 in the SIAC Championship game against Fort Valley State, rushing for 119 yards and one touchdown.

Cecil and Jones will anchor the defensive line as the tandem accounted for seven sacks and 15 tackles for loss. Jones ranked second on the team with 75 total tackles and blocked a potential game-tying field goal by nationally-ranked Tuskegee a year ago.

Luckett will be looked at as the top returning player in the KSU defensive secondary. During his junior season, Luckett picked up 37 tackles, five and a half tackles for a loss, and led the team in forced fumbles with three.
