The Eastern Kentucky University baseball team hits the road to take on the University of Missouri Tigers at Taylor Stadium in Columbia, Missouri on Tuesday evening. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. eastern.
The Colonels (24-28, 10-17 OVC) nearly upset Tennessee last Wednesday, and picked up a win against the Ohio Valley Conference regular season champions Tennessee Tech on Friday.
Missouri (31-21, 11-16 SEC) has series wins over Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina this season, while also taking games from Kentucky and Vanderbilt.
EKU’s offense is led by Ben Fisher and his single season program record 23 home runs, second most in the NCAA. Fisher leads the nation in runs scored with 67, and is tied for fourth in RBIs with 66. Alex Holderbach ranks second on the team in home runs with nine. Holderbach also has 62 hits, 46 RBIs and 37 runs this year. Shea Sullivan also has 46 RBIs, while ranking second in hits with 68, and is tied for second in runs scored with 46. Nick Howie is also tied for second on the team in runs scored with 46, and has eight home runs this season.
The Tigers are led by the combination of Brett Bond’s 10 home runs, 57 hits and 41 RBIs and Trey Harris’ 12 home runs and 45 RBIs.
The Colonels stay in the “Show-Me” state to wrap up the regular season with an OVC series at Southeast Missouri. The series opener is set for a 7 p.m. start on Thursday.
