Centre head men’s and women’s golf coach Bryan Hearn recently announced the addition of Rhett Martin as the Colonels’ assistant men’s and women’s golf coach for the upcoming 2017-18 season.

“I am beyond excited to join the Centre family and be around such amazing people in a beautiful town and state,” said Martin. “Our men’s and women’s programs have done great things in the past and I look forward to fostering and furthering the successes of the Centre College golf program.”

Martin assumes the role after serving as golf course assistant at Salisbury Country Club in Midlothian, Va. where he aided in maintenance and turf management at the club.

A former men’s golf standout at Bridgewater (Va.), Martin was a third team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference selection as a senior in 2015-16. He posted three top-10 finishes during his senior campaign, highlighted by a third-place showing at the Roanoke Invitational after firing consecutive rounds of 75 apiece. The Midlothian, Va. native also shot matching 71s to finish fifth at the VSGA State Intercollegiate. For his performance as a senior in 2015-16, he earned Bridgewater Golfer of the Year accolades.

“I am excited to announce Rhett Martin as our new Men’s and Women’s Assistant Coach,” said Hearn. “Coach Martin’s experience as a successful Division III player at Bridgewater and his extensive knowledge of the game will be a great asset to developing our players on and off the course. With Coach Martin’s experience, knowledge of the game and positive attitude, he is a perfect fit for our program.”

Martin also assisted with the Bridgewater golf programs during the fall of 2016. He graduated from Bridgewater with a degree in history in 2016.

The Centre women’s golf team recorded a fourth-place mark at the 2017 SAA Championships while the men’s team finished fifth in the conference this past season.
