Fifteen UK Swim & Dive Athletes to Compete at USA Swimming Nationals

Fifteen Kentucky swimmers are set to represent the Wildcats on the national stage this week, competing in the 2017 Phillips 66 National Championships from June 27-July 1 at the Indiana University Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis.

USA Swimming’s supreme domestic event of the year, the 2017 Phillips 66 National Championships serves as the USA National Team selection for several international events including the 2017 FINA World Championships, which runs from July 23-30 in Budapest, Hungary, and the 2017 World University Games, which will be held from Aug. 20-26 in Chinese Taipei, Taiwan.

The World Championships roster will feature 26 men and 26 women, while the World University Games will send 20 athletes per gender. A complete breakdown of team selection procedures for the World Championships can be found here and for the World University Games here.

The preliminary sessions will be streamed live each day at 9 a.m. on usaswimming.org, while the finals will be available on either usaswimming.org or the NBC Sports app. Additional finals coverage includes NBCSN at 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday (same day delay); live coverage via Universal HD Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 6-8 p.m.; and national broadcast via tape delay on Saturday and Sunday from 1-3 p.m. on NBC.

Twelve swimmers on Kentucky’s current roster plus three incoming freshmen will represent the Blue and White this week in Indianapolis. Of the UK contingent, two Wildcats rank among the top 10 in the nation across two events with sophomore Asia Seidt posting the second-fastest time this year in the 200-meter backstroke and the seventh-fastest in the 100 back. Senior Bridgette Alexander holds the ninth-best time nationally in the 200 back.
