NKU lands 96 Athletes on Horizon League Spring Honor Roll

Northern Kentucky University had 96 student-athletes honored on the Spring 2017 Horizon League Academic Honor Roll, the League announced on Thursday.

In order to qualify for distinction on the academic honor roll, student-athletes must have competed in the most recent or current season, completed at least three semesters as a full-time student at the same institution, and recorded a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20.

The Norse posted a department grade point average of 3.25, not far off the record of 3.28 set last fall. NKU’s student-athletes have recorded at least a 3.20 GPA for the past six semesters, and at least a 3.0 for the past 12 semesters.

Additionally, 27 student-athletes garnered President’s Honors after boasting an unblemished 4.0 GPA in the spring semester, while 59 student-athletes landed on the Dean’s List.

Over the course of the 2016-17 campaigns, NKU also had four student-athletes earn CoSIDA Academic All-District distinction for their respective sports: TJ Alas (baseball), Lukas Clemens (men’s tennis), Trase Milburn (track & field) and Mate Virag (men’s tennis). Virag was most recently honored as the Horizon League Men’s Scholar Athlete of the Spring Season, marking the first time that a Norse has received the honor.
