Thomas More College junior volleyball student-athlete Jenna Fessler (Fort Mitchell, Ky./Beechwood) and junior football student-athlete Luke Zajac (Edgewood, Ky./Dixie Heights) were named to the Academic All-District II Teams in their respective sports by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Fessler carries a 3.95 grade point average in athletic training. She was named first team All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) and honorable mention All-North Region by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). Fessler finished with a PAC-best 9.80 assists per set average this season. She ranks second in the league with 1,009 total assists while also totaling 291 digs (2.83/s), 95 kills, 37 service aces and 19 blocks.
Zajac is majoring in business and marketing and has a 3.69 grade point average. He played in all 10 games and had 136 rushes for 801 yards and eight touchdowns, while also pulling in 10 catches for 103 yards and had eight passing yards. Zajac was an honorable mention All-PAC selection earlier this week.
By virtue of making the Academic All-District II team, Fessler and Zajac advance to the Academic All-America Team ballot in their respective sports.
To be selected Academic All-District, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve with at least a 3.30 GPA.
The Academic All-District teams are voted on by Sports Information Directors within a district and the members of the CoSIDA Academic All-America committee vote on the national ballot. District II includes every NCAA Division III institution in Kentucky, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Rhode Island and West Virginia.
