Shadell Millinghaus was a man on a mission Saturday in the night cap of the 2017 Central Bank Jim Reid Classic. The senior took a close battle with Washington Adventist University and blew it open with his game and career-high 35 points. He also snagged 10 rebounds for a double-double.
He had 21 of those in the first half as Georgetown went from trailing the Shock to holding a 15-point lead. The advantage doubled in the second half before GC picked up the 103-78 win for victory number 10.
Quan Poindexter added 15 points. Eljay Cowherd and Jeremiah Tisdale had 11 each, while Jacob Conway finished with 10.
The Tigers back in action 7 pm Tuesday hosting Indiana University Southeast.
Georgetown College women’s basketball had a very slow start Saturday in Pulaski, Tenn. The Tigers (2-3) struggled to find an early rhythm as host Martin Methodist College opened a 22-point lead. GC only trailed by six through the other three quarters and really came alive in the fourth, but did fall to the RedHawks (5-2) 86-58.
MMC was hot in the first 10 minutes, hitting 58 percent from the field – 10-of-17 – to open the 25-3 advantage. Martina Lytle made the only basket in the first quarter, while Kennedy Flynn started the scoring with a free throw.
From there the Tigers settled down, even outscored the RedHawks 22-9 in the final 10 minutes, but could not overcome the early hole.
Flynn led GC with 14 points, while Raegan Williams added 12.
Georgetown is back in action 7 pm Tuesday at Midway University.
