The Thorobrettes (0-5) have had a slow start to the season, dropping their second game in as many tries to UAH, the first being on Nov. 11 in a 64-52 effort. The Chargers (4-1) are on the opposite side of the spectrum as they have only dropped one game of the first five, dating to Nov. 16 against Trevecca Nazarene, 65-62.
The first quarter went as planned for the Thorobretters coming out of the gate with an 18-12 lead in the first quarter. UAH caught fire in the second quarter, holding the visiting squad to only nine points, and going into the half up by one at 28-27.
The Chargers repeated their output in the third frame, outscoring KSU 26-18, adding to their lead, and keeping a steady offensive pace in the fourth quarter for the 72-62 final.
Senior guard Brittani Rizzi led the team in scoring for the second time this season with 14 points in 31 minutes of action. Junior center Brooke Wallace came off the bench for her most complete game of the season for 10 points shooting 5-of-7 from the floor and tied for a team-high in rebounds with five.
KSU will open SIAC play this weekend against Fort Valley State University, and it will be the first of four straight home games. The matchup with the Lady Wildcats is set for 1 PM ET.
