Tim Coleman set a new career high with 27 points, while Hagen Tyler notched 18 points for the Tigers (10-1). Shawn Johnson recorded 15 points and had seven rebounds, to go along with a near double-double from Andrew Smith – who notched nine points and a game-high 12 boards. Blake Smith finished with 20 points for the Eagles (7-3) to lead the team.
Campbellsville got off to a strong as it took its largest lead of the game of 12 points with 16:53 left to play in the first half. Alice Lloyd did not go away as it cut its deficit to six points at the half, 52-46. The Eagles could not complete the rally as it never took the lead over the first 20 minutes of action.
The Tigers got off to a scorching start making 12-of-19 three-pointers in the first half, while shooting 52.8 percent from the floor. Alice Lloyd shot at the same clip making 19-of-36 field goals.
In the second half, the two teams played close throughout as both sides put up 42 points in the half.
Both teams cooled off from the floor in the second half as the Tigers made 14 baskets on 29 shots, while the Eagles attempted 41 shots and made 18 shots.
Alice Lloyd tried to make one last effort to come from behind as Campbellsville was held without field goal over the final 3:54. However, the Tigers made 10-of-14 free throws in the second half to keep the Eagles at ease. Alice Lloyd did not lead at any point in the game as the Tigers walked away with with a 94-88 victory.
Tuesday night’s game was Campbellsville’s first true road game of the season.
To finish the game, the Tigers shot over 50 percent from the floor, while outrebounding the Eagles, 36-31. The 36 rebounds from Campbellsville are its second fewest in a game this season after the Tigers only grabbed 31 boards against Central Pennsylvania College.
Campbellsville continues its road swing on Thursday night as it travels to Henderson, Tennessee to face Freed-Hardeman University at 7 p.m. ET to wrap up a home-and-home series against the Lions.
