Hunter Brown capped off his three-year career at Campbellsville after being named the NCCAA Offensive Player of the Year for the second-straight season.
Brown highlighted the All-NCCAA First Team on offense after racking up 370.5 passing yards per game in his final season of collegiate football, which led the NAIA. The redshirt-senior finished the year 35 total touchdowns in 10 games for the Tigers.
Over his three season at Campbellsville and last two years as the Tiger starting quarterback, Brown rewrote the Campbellsville record books in passing attempts (945), passing completions (573), passing yards (7,649), passing yards per game (332.6), total offense (7,502), total offensive yards per game (326.2) and touchdown passes (71).
Joining Brown on first team is Wade Holtsclaw, Zerric Willis, Keanu Young, Dante’ Hollis, Darius Moore and BJ Pelt.
Holtsclaw led the Tigers in rushing this past season racking up 640 yards and leading the team with 14 touchdowns. Holtsclaw also led the team in scoring with 84 points, while he notched a rushing touchdown in all but one game this season.
Willis finished second on the team with 50 receptions and 794 receiving yards. He caught a total of six touchdown passes, while averaging 79.4 receiving yards per game. Willis was also named the NCCAA Victory Bowl Most Outstanding Offensive Player.
Young notched a team-best 64 grabs and 805 receiving yards in just nine games this season. He corralled nine receiving touchdowns – which were second best on the team – while rushing in for two more scores.
Hollis helped the Tigers record the best passing attack in the NAIA this season as they averaged 382.9 passing yards a game this season. Hollis started in all 10 games playing mainly at left tackle, while also playing at the guard position on the left side of the offensive line.
Moore anchored the Campbellsville defense throughout the season recording 75 tackles from the linebacker position. He racked up 5-1/2 tackles for loss for a total of 17 yards, while also forcing a pair of fumbles this past season and breaking up three passes.
Pelt led Campbellsville with seven interceptions during his first season in a Tiger uniform. His seven interceptions are tied for most in NAIA this season and he ended the year with 16 pass breakups. Pelt capped off 2017 with 41 tackles, including 27 unassisted tackles.
Campbellsville also placed three student-athletes on the All-NCCAA Second Team and one player on the honorable mention list.
On the second team, Cruise Coulter, Terence Stewart and Jaceree Caldwell represented the Tigers.
Coulter racked up 10 receptions this past season and compiled 174 receiving yards for two touchdowns. Coulter also helped the offensive line compile 5,310 yards of total offense this past season.
Stewart started all 10 games for the Tigers this season playing each game at center to round out the offensive line. On the interior, Stewart helped Campbellsville average 382.9 passing yard a game to lead the NAIA and 148.1 rushing yards per game.
Caldwell – who was named the Mid-South Conference Bluegrass Division Defensive Freshman of the Year – led the Tigers with 13 tackles for loss this season, which added up to 72 total yards. He also finished tied for the team lead with 5-1/2 sacks and finished with 41 tackles.
Rounding out the Campbellsville student-athletes on the All-NCCAA Teams is Kendon Young who was named to the honorable mention list. Kendon Young led the Tigers this season with 10 receiving touchdowns on just 33 catches. He led the team with a 20.7 yard per catch average after compiling 683 receiving yards in nine appearances.
Campbellsville capped of its 2017 campaign after defeating Southwestern Assemblies of God University in the NCCAA Victory Bowl, 41-28.
