Murray State Football’s Wade Named As Racers’ 42nd All-American

Senior defensive back D’Montre Wade has been named as a first-team FCS All-American by Phil Steele Publications. Wade’s selection Friday represents the 53rd overall All-American honor for Murray State football and the 42nd individual to earn the prestigious title. In addition, it also marks the 21st time a Racer has been named as a first-team All-American.

The Columbia, Tennessee native led the OVC in interceptions on the year with six and finished second nationally in interceptions per game with 0.6. The redshirt senior also added 33 tackles, 2.0 tackles-for-loss, and seven pass breakups.

He is now just the eighth player in school history to garner at least six receptions in a single season and the first since 2004. In addition, Wade finished his time in blue and gold as the program’s career leader in pass breakups with 35 and passes defended with 45, since those two categories begin being kept in 1994, and ninth all-time in interceptions with 10.
