EKU WBB Back At Home To Take On Ohio Christian

The Eastern Kentucky University women’s basketball team looks to knock off the Ohio Christian Trailblazers in McBrayer Arena on Monday night. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET. Fans can receive free admission with the donation of a new toy.

–          The Colonels (2-6, 0-0 OVC) fell to George Mason, 64-41, on Dec 9. The Colonels held the lead at halftime, 25-23, and forced the Patriots into 15 first-half turnovers, but could not hold onto the advantage.

–          Madison Pierce scored a career-high 12 points against the Patriots and came away with a career-high four steals. She was also instrumental in holding George Mason’s leading scorer, Natalie Butler (18.6 ppg), to a season-low 12 points.

–          Abby Wright was the only other Colonel to get into double-digits against George Mason, scoring 11.

–          EKU forced a season-high 19 turnovers against George Mason, the most turnovers the Colonels forced in a game since Eastern forced 25 against Tennessee Tech on Jan. 28.

 

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

 

–          Ohio Christian (6-6, 0-3 RSC) is coming of a 93-33 exhibition loss to Akron. In their last regular season game, the Trailblazers fell to Rio Grande, 84-58 on Dec. 15.

–          Stacey Deinsmore leads the Trailblazers in scoring at 12.6 points per game. Montrell Roberts also contributes 11.5 points for Ohio Christian.

–          On the season, the Trailblazers rank 42nd in all of Division II in steals per game (9.9).

–          This will be the first ever meeting between EKU and Ohio Christian.

–          The Colonels will hit the road to take on Jacksonville State on Dec. 28. Game time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET.
