WKU WBB Knocks Off Preseason Favorite Middle Tennessee, 57-43, in C-USA Opener

Tashia Brown

On the win tonight…

“Pretty much all week we were trying to take pride in just guarding, that’s what our main focus has been lately. I think we went out and finally just executed everything on the floor and just executed our game plan and got some stops and came up pretty successful.”

On playing their archrival as the C-USA opener…

“It gives us a chance to just make a statement. Make a statement about who we are and what our program is about. It was a great team win here on our home floor and it was just great to be playing in front of our home court.”

Sidnee Bopp

On the win tonight…

“Everyone stepped up, especially Sherry Porter, she did amazing tonight on defense. Everybody did their jobs. The guards pressured so they couldn’t get the ball to the post, which really helped our posts so when they did everybody was in helpside. It was just a team win.”

On Saturday’s game against Southern Miss…

“Coach Heard is going to give us a game plan and we’re going to follow it. We just have to believe and trust in her and as long as we do what she says we’re going to come out with a win.”

Michelle Clark-Heard

On the quick turnaround…

“We’re used to this. We played in the tournament and did the same thing. They’ll be ready with the scout and we’ll be smart about what we do and the minutes that we play but at the end of the day. This is just how it’s going to be for the rest of the season.”

On doing the right things in this game…

“I’ve been on this team so much about defense. Man, the way we played tonight, our pressure, our helping, just everything. We outrebounded a team, I’ll say it one more time, we outrebounded a team. All these things that I’ve been on them about, it was just great team basketball. We handled some adversity. Tashia (Brown) goes out, the first time all year she’s been in foul trouble, in the first half. We still kept the pace, everybody still kept playing. I think that’s the sign of a team that’s growing. It was really great to see in this game against Middle Tennessee.”
