EKU WBB Road Trip Ends At Rival Murray State On Saturday

The two-game Ohio Valley Conference road trip for the Eastern Kentucky University women’s basketball team ends on Saturday at rival Murray State University.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.

WHAT TO KNOW

– The Colonels (7-11, 4-5 OVC) lost at Austin Peay on Thursday, 59-45. EKU trailed by only three after a lay-up by Madison Wood with 8:40 to go, but the Governors ended the game on an 18-7 run.

– A’Queen Hayes was chosen as the OVC Co-Player of the Week and the OVC Newcomer of the Week on Tuesday.

– In its last three games, Eastern Kentucky has limited its opponents to 52 points per game.

– Through 18 games this season, Eastern has out-rebounded its opponent 13 times. The Colonels are fourth in the OVC in rebounding margin (+3.6 per game).

– EKU is third in the OVC in scoring defense (61.8 ppg), fourth in rebounding margin (+3.6), second in rebounding defense (34.6 rpg), fourth in blocks (3.4/g), fifth in rebounding offense (38.2 rpg), and fifth in field goal percentage defense (39.7 percent).

– Eastern leads the series 58-30 and is 27-16 in games played in Murray. The Colonels have won seven of the last eight.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

– Murray State enters Saturday’s game 7-13 overall and 3-6 in OVC play. The Racers have lost six of their last eight games.

– MSU dropped an 82-80 decision Thursday to Morehead State. The Racers got a game-high 34 points from Ke’Shunan James on 16-of-34 shooting, while Bria Bethea tossed in 24 points on 5-of-11 shooting from 3-point range.

– James, a senior guard, leads the team, and is second in the OVC, with an average of 20.6 points per game. She also pulls down 8.4 rebounds per game. Bria Bethea, also a senior guard, contributes 15.8 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.
