Reed was named the OVC Co-Male Field Athlete of the Week. The multi-athlete from Chicago delivered a dominant effort over the weekend, winning the heptathlon at Marshall’s Thundering Herd Invitational with a personal-best score of 4,814 points. That is the top heptathlon performance in the OVC and it currently ranks No. 49 in the country. He won the long jump and the high jump and finished top-three in the 60 meters, 60-meter hurdles, shot put and 1,000 meters en route to his overall victory.

Reed is the defending OVC outdoor decathlon champion, and he took silver in the heptathlon at the OVC Indoor Championships last February.

This is Reed’s second career OVC Field Athlete of the Week award. He earned the honor last April after scoring 6,488 points in the decathlon at the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville.

Romo was named the OVC Co-Male Track Athlete of the Week. The distance runner from Salamanca, Spain made his EKU track debut by winning the 3,000 meters at the Thundering Herd Invitational on Saturday. He defeated a field of 20 runners and clocked an OVC-best time of 8:20.2.

Romo was a first team All-OVC performer in cross country in the fall, and he helped lead the EKU men to their 12th consecutive conference title.

The EKU track and field team returns to action this Saturday, February 3, at the MTSU Invitational in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
