The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team signed Carla Girbau, a University of Miami transfer from Barcelona, Spain, to the 2019-20 recruiting class, announced by head coach Carlos Drada. The program graduated one student-athlete at the end of the 2018-19 season, Justina Mikulskyte.
“We are very excited to have Carla join our program,” said assistant coach Federico Sabogal. “We’ve been recruiting her for quite a while. Her values as a person and her game and style are in line with our program. She has great character, she has goals of playing professionally and she desires to be the best student-athlete she can be, which is the type of athlete we look for at Kentucky. She is one of three Spanish athletes joining our program this upcoming season. We are excited to add her to our recruiting class and we can’t wait to get her on campus.”
