After a breakout redshirt-junior season that was rewarded with more individual accolades than any other player in Conference USA, Kentucky defender Aimé Mabika is set to participate in Major League Soccer’s inaugural 2019 adidas MLS College Showcase this weekend in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Beginning on Friday, the three-day event officially sanctioned by the NCAA will give technical staffs from all 26 MLS clubs an opportunity to scout the top collegiate prospects in the nation, including those with remaining NCAA eligibility. Forty college players, ranging from freshmen to seniors, will partake in a series of training sessions, testing, interviews and match play. The showcase is meant to allow MLS clubs to interact with potential SuperDraft selections without jeopardizing players’ collegiate eligibility.

Mabika was named the C-USA Player of the Year and Co-Defensive MVP, as well as first-team All-Conference before being voted to the United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region first team. The 6-foot-6 Lexington native anchored a UK defense that led the conference with nine shutouts.
