No. 1 Georgetown College Tigers needed a late surge, but pulled out an 85-80 win Saturday in Davis-Reid Alumni Gym. GC improves to 3-1, 1-1 on the season, while the Bethel University Wildcats fall to 2-3, 0-3. The new Mid-South Conference foe took a seven-point lead with just less than nine minutes left. The Tigers responded with a 22-10 run to finish the game.
Freshman Derrin Boyd scored a career-high 22 points, while Kyran Jones chipped in with 17 points and 16 rebounds. The game was knotted at 74 with 4:35 remaining, Jones broke the tie from the line and finished the stretch with five points and two rebounds.
Georgetown is back in action 7 pm Wednesday hosting Indiana University Southeast.
