Murray State Athletics is proud to announce the hiring of Jessica Young to its sports medicine staff where she will serve as the primary athletic training contact for the Racer women’s soccer program.
“I want to thank Kevin Saal and Eric Frederick for the opportunity to return to Murray State. I am excited to work with these high level student-athletes that will compete on and off the field for championships, and coaching staffs that put their student-athletes in the best positions to win. I am excited for the opportunity to be a part of the betterment of the health and welfare of our student-athletes,” said Young.
After spending two years at Murray State as an athletic training graduate assistant where she earned her master’s degree in Human Development and Leadership in May of 2019, Young returns to the Racer family after spending the last year and a half as an assistant athletic trainer at Chowan University in Murfreesboro, North Carolina. While there, Young worked primarily with the Hawks’ football and baseball programs.
“We are really excited to welcome Jessica back to Murray State. Since she left her graduate assistant position here, she has worked at the collegiate level preparing herself for this position. Our sports medicine program and our student-athletes will benefit from the knowledge and experiences Jessica has received in the past two years,” said MSU’s Assistant AD for Sports Medicine, Eric Frederick.
The West Chester, Ohio native earned her undergraduate degree in athletic training education from Bowling Green State University in 2016. During her time at BGSU, she worked with the baseball, football, men’s hockey, women’s basketball, and women’s soccer programs.
Young is an NATABOC certified athletic trainer and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association.
