Congratulations to the Lady Knights on a hard fought victory tonight against a tough Elizabethtown team in the regional basketball tournament over in Green County! Though the Lady Knights did not play well in the first half and went into halftime down a point to the Lady Panthers, they stepped their game up in the second half, offensively and defensively and ended up winning 65-43. The final score does not reflect the actual closeness of the game, which started with a determined Elizabethtown team who definitely came ready to play and throughout much of the game it was unclear if the Lady Knights would move on, that perhaps this was the night mighty Marion County would go down. The Lady Knights came out of the locker room still looking a bit stunned and opted not to even take a warmup shot. After getting back to what they do best, the Lady Knights slowly built a lead in the third quarter and by the final period nervous Marion Co fans could finally breathe once their team was ahead by double digits. The Lady Knights were lead once again by Makayla Epps, who though only scoring 3 points in the first half finished with a game high 22 points and is selected as MarionCounty.TV’s Player of the Game! Kyvin Goodin-Rogers played a great game as well and contributed 15 points, Alexus Calhoun tossed in 9 points, 7 points were added by Patrice Tonge, Logan Powell had 6 points, 3 points from Haeli Howard, and Evelyn Taylor got 2 points. The Lady Knights have now won 34 games without a loss and play Tuesday against Larue County for the regional championship… 5 games to go!
