🏀 Queens edges out Bellarmine MBB 75-74 in close ASUN Conference matchup

The Bellarmine Knights narrowly fell to the visiting Queens University of Charlotte in an intense ASUN Conference matchup on Thursday night, with the final score ending at 75-74. The Knights struggled in the first half, shooting just 26% from the field and allowing Queens to take a 40-26 lead at halftime. However, Bellarmine mounted a comeback in the second half, finally taking the lead at the 6:06 mark and trading the lead back and forth with Queens until the end of the game.

Despite the loss, Bellarmine had strong performances from Garrett Tipton, who scored a career-high 27 points, and Peter Suder, who had 22 points. Curt Hopf also added 12 points and 6 rebounds for the Knights. Queens was led by AJ McKee, who finished with 20 points and 5 made 3-pointers, and Gavin Rains, who had 14 rebounds. The difference in the game came down to rebounding, as Queens had a 18-8 edge in second chance points and outrebounded Bellarmine overall.

Bellarmine will look to bounce back on Saturday as they hit the road to face Jacksonville State at 9 p.m. (8 p.m. CT). The Gamecocks are currently 7-9 (0-3 ASUN) after a 75-41 loss to Liberty.
