The Murray State women’s basketball team suffered a tough 75-67 loss against the Evansville Purple Aces on Friday. The game was tied at 51 after three quarters of play, but the Purple Aces managed to outscore the Racers by 8-1 in the final three minutes, leading to their victory.
Despite the loss, Murray State had a strong performance on the rebounds, outpacing Evansville 41-32 with Katelyn Young leading the team with a game-high 10 boards and earning her seventh double-double of the season. Young scored 18 points in the game while Hannah McKay scored a career-high 22 points.
Both teams were almost perfect at the free throw line, with Evansville going 15-for-17 and Murray State going one better at 15-for-16. Jordyn Hughes came off the bench to contribute 13 points to the Racers’ score.
The Racers will continue their four-game road trip with a game against Indiana State on Sunday, January 29th. The game will tip off at 1 PM ET/12 PM CT at the Hulman Center in Terre Haute.
