🏀 EKU MBB Team to Host Jacksonville State Thursday

Eastern Kentucky University’s men’s basketball team will take on Jacksonville State University on Thursday, January 26th at the Baptist Health Arena. The game, which is sponsored by Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, is set to start at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on ESPN+. For those in the Richmond area, the live radio broadcast is available on WCYO 100.7 FM. The game can also be listened to worldwide on EKUSports.com.

The Eastern Kentucky Colonels lead the all-time series with Jacksonville State 24-14. The Colonels are 15-3 against the Gamecocks in Richmond and have won three of the last five games. However, the Gamecocks have won the last two matchups, including the most recent one on February 23rd, 2022, when they defeated Eastern Kentucky 81-68.

The Eastern Kentucky Colonels come into Thursday’s game with a 14-9 overall record and a 7-3 record in the ASUN Conference, good for third place. The Colonels are led by Devontae Blanton and Leland Walker who combined for 42 points in their recent win over Bellarmine. Blanton is sixth in the ASUN in scoring (15.61 ppg) and second in field goal percentage (46.4 percent). Tayshawn Comer is seventh in the conference in both assists per game (3.78) and assists-to-turnover ratio (1.98).

Jacksonville State comes into Thursday’s game with a 10-13 overall record and a 3-7 record in league play. The Gamecocks are coming off a weekend sweep of Lipscomb and Austin Peay and are 3-3 in their last six games. Demaree King, a senior guard, leads the team in scoring (14.6 ppg) and assists (3.09 apg). Skyelar Potter, a former Morehead State guard, is contributing 13.6 points per game. Juwan Perdue, a junior forward, is the team’s top rebounder at 6.9 boards per game.
