Following her performance against Arkansas last Friday, Kentucky gymnastics freshman Ella Warren was named the Southeastern Conference Co-Freshman of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Warren put up a career-high 9.875 on the bars, good for a third place finish in the event. Kentucky junior Katrina Coca and Arkansas’ Amanda Wellick won the event with a 9.9. As a team, UK won the bars title, 49.275-49.050.
The Jacksonville, Florida native made her career debut on the floor at Arkansas, and posted a 9.8 on the floor. She tied for a fifth place finish in the event and helped Kentucky win the team crown by a score of 49.100 – 49.0250.
Overall, Kentucky posted a score of 196.950, tying the third highest score in program history and the highest road score in history. Kentucky moved up to No. 5 in the nation with an average score of 196.513.
The Wildcats will be back in action on Friday, when they open home SEC action with No. 5 Florida. The meet is set to begin at 7 p.m., with introductions at 6:45 p.m.
