The Kentucky men’s basketball program continues to strengthen its roster with the addition of seasoned player Andrew Carr, marking an exciting development for head coach Mark Pope’s inaugural lineup.
Carr brings a wealth of experience as a collegiate 1,000-point scorer, accompanied by impressive statistics of over 500 rebounds and 100 blocks throughout his four-year career at Delaware and Wake Forest. With one season of eligibility remaining, Carr’s arrival adds a significant boost to Kentucky’s lineup.
Coach Pope expressed his enthusiasm about Carr’s inclusion, highlighting his exceptional skills and leadership qualities. According to Pope, Carr embodies the ideal power forward for both college and NBA play, demonstrating remarkable decision-making abilities, shooting range, and proficiency inside the paint.
Throughout his collegiate career spanning 117 games, Carr has maintained impressive averages of 11.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game. During his tenure at Wake Forest, Carr showcased his prowess with averages of 12.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.2 blocks per outing.
As a senior at Wake Forest, Carr’s impact was significant, starting all 35 games and averaging 13.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. His performance included seven double-doubles, with a notable career-high 31 points against Georgia in the National Invitation Tournament.
In his junior season at Wake Forest, Carr maintained consistent contributions, averaging 10.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game while leading the team with 32 blocks. His impressive debut season at Wake Forest saw him named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week following standout performances.
Carr’s collegiate journey began at Delaware, where he made significant contributions, including a standout performance in the Colonial Athletic Association’s Championship game, helping the Blue Hens secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
