The University of Louisville men’s basketball program, led by head coach Pat Kelsey, announced Thursday the signing of transfer Kasean Pryor to the 2024-25 roster.
The 6-10 forward, pronounced KAY-sin, brings a wealth of experience and skill to the Cardinals, having spent the 2023-24 season at South Florida after previous stints at Northwest Florida State and Boise State. Pryor, with one year of eligibility remaining, is poised to make a significant impact in the upcoming season.
“Kasean is one of the most skilled big men in the country,” said Kelsey. “His ability to stretch defenses with his shooting and passing abilities makes him a nightmare matchup for the opposition. He plays with a passion and swagger that galvanizes the team. A fierce competitor, who rebounds at a high level, his on-court intensity is contagious.”
During the 2023-24 season at South Florida, Pryor showcased his versatility and impact on both ends of the floor. He appeared in 32 games, starting in 21, and averaged 26.3 minutes per game. Pryor contributed 13.0 points and 7.9 rebounds per game while shooting 44.7% from the field and an impressive 81.5% from the free-throw line.
Pryor’s performance was highlighted by 12 double-doubles and 18 games of double-figure scoring, including five with 20-plus points. Notably, he achieved a remarkable feat against Rice on January 12, recording a game with 25 or more points, five steals, five blocks, shooting above 90 percent from the free-throw line, and committing one or fewer turnovers.
In the 2022-23 season at Northwest Florida State, Pryor demonstrated his scoring prowess by averaging 14.8 points per game and shooting 46.2% from the field. His consistent performance earned him recognition as one of the team’s top contributors.
Prior to his collegiate career, Pryor honed his skills at Ann Arbor Pioneer High School, where he was Honorable Mention All-State and First-Team All-Southeastern Conference Red. He averaged an impressive 15 points and nine rebounds per game, showcasing his potential as a standout athlete.
With his combination of size, skill, and competitive spirit, Pryor is expected to be a valuable addition to the Louisville men’s basketball program, contributing to the team’s success in the upcoming season.
