https://kysports.tv – Marshall County’s 6’6″ junior Matthew Langhi was an absolute bucket-getter all season long for the Marshals. In 32 games, he poured in an incredible 873 total points, averaging a massive 27.3 points per game! He also pulled down 173 rebounds (5.4 RPG) and was virtually automatic from the charity stripe, shooting 85.9% on 291 free-throw attempts.
When the bright lights of Rupp Arena turned on for the state tournament, #42 somehow took his game to another level, finishing as the leading scorer of the entire Sweet 16 with a jaw-dropping 31.5 points per game!
In the opening round, he carried the Marshals to a 67-63 victory over Boyd County, dropping a monster double-double with 36 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists while playing all 32 minutes. He literally scored more than half of his team’s total points to secure the win, shooting an elite 12-for-26 from the field and 11-for-13 from the free-throw line! 🤯
He proved he could do it against the absolute best in the quarterfinals against the eventual state champions, George Rogers Clark. Refusing to come off the floor, Langhi played another full 32 minutes and poured in a game-high 27 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and protected the paint with 2 blocks to keep Marshall County fighting until the final buzzer.
For his spectacular back-to-back performances, he earned a highly deserved spot on the 2026 KHSAA Sweet 16 All-Tournament Team! 🏆
If his junior year is any indication Langhi’s senior year should be a great one and could result in being a Kentucky Mr. Basketball finalist.
