Covington Catholic Defeats Campbell County

Coach Scott Ruthsatz Lexington, KY- Covington Catholic put down Campbell County 64-43 in the 1st game back to the Sweet 16 since cutting the nets in 2014.

The Colonels were led by sophomore Cole Vandorph’s 29 points and outstanding half court defense that created 14 Campbell County turnovers.

Vandorph went  10-16 from the filed and 7-9 from the charity stripe and literally dominated the game. He was named the player of the game with his outstanding performance.

Covington Catholic shot 51.2% from the floor compared to Campbell County’s 38.1% and 14.3% from deep. The Colonels were outstanding from 3 ball land shooting 42.9%.

The Camels were led by #14 Matt Wilson by controlling the paint 14 points (6-6 FG) 12 boards, and 4 blocks. #15 Deondre Jackson scored 11 along with 3 assists.

The second half the Camels offense produced 17 points compared to Covington Catholic’s 32.

Even though Campbell County hung tough until halftime the feeling that Cov Catholic of dominating the game was overwhelming,
