The University of Louisville baseball program sits in seventh in the Baseball America preseason rankings released on Monday.

Florida holds the top spot with UCLA, Texas Tech, Ole Miss and Virginia rounding out the top five. Louisville is one spot behind Vanderbilt and is one of seven ACC teams in the top 25.

Louisville has previously earned 2021 preseason rankings of second from Perfect Game, fifth from D1Baseball and 11th from Collegiate Baseball.

The Cardinals were 13-4 during the shortened 2020 season that saw them begin the year as the top-ranked team in the country. Louisville finished the season ranked as high as No. 2.

Dan McDonnell is set to start his 15th season with the Cardinals, returning a large portion of his 2020 squad. Under McDonnell, the Cardinals have won more games than any program in the country since he was hired in 2007.

Louisville returns starters at six positions along with 12 of 14 pitchers that recorded an inning for the Cardinals in 2020.
