Eastern Kentucky University distance standouts Laura Taborda and Lou Trois have been named to the prestigious 2020 U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Cross Country Team.
The EKU men’s and women’s cross country squads also earned All-Academic Team distinctions.
Taborda and Trois were two of 269 women who were named All-Academic individuals in Division-I.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and have either qualified for the national championship meet or finished top-5 at their respective conference championship.
Taborda is an art major from Covilha, Portugal. She became only the fourth EKU woman ever to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championships as an individual this season. Taborda won the individual OVC cross country title on March 1, helping the Colonels to their 14th team championship in the last 15 years.
Trois is a mathematics major from Lannion, France. She earned first team All-OVC honors after finishing fifth at the OVC Championships on March 1. Her performance was key in the Colonels winning their 14th conference crown in the last 15 years.
The EKU men’s cross country team has maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.429, while the women have a 3.708 cumulative GPA.
