Eastern Kentucky is off to a 1-10 start on the 2019 campaign. The Bruins lone win came in a sweep of Alabama A&M on Sept. 3. Belmont returns four starters from last year’s 5-23 squad along with nine letterwinners.
WKU leads the all-time series against Belmont 20-0, sweeping the last five meetings. The Lady Toppers have claimed all nine meetings to take place in Nashville. The series dates back to 1997, with all 20 prior meetings occurring during head coach Travis Hudson’s tenure.
The Red and White are coming off of their second weekend tournament title in the first three weeks of the season. Last week, WKU went 4-0 after dropping one lone set across victories over Eastern Kentucky, Bowling Green, Ohio State and Tulane.
Through three weeks of Conference USA weekly awards, WKU Volleyball has already seen four Lady Toppers recognized with four different honors, displaying just how versatile Travis Hudson’s 2019 squad is. Most recently, Lauren Matthews and Paige Briggs were recognized as the league’s Co-Offensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week, respectively.
WKU Volleyball is in the midst of a 12-match stretch that features 11 home contests. Following Tuesday’s meeting at Belmont, the Lady Toppers will not play another away match until Oct. 11
