Kentucky Wesleyan’s Kirkland (baseball) and Tidwell (softball) named G-MAC Player of the Week

With a stellar performance on Sunday, Andrew Kirkland of the Kentucky Wesleyan College baseball team was named the Great Midwest Athlete Conference baseball player of the week as announced by the conference office on Monday.

On the week, Kirkland went nine-for- thirteen at the plate with ten runs driven in and scoring six himself. The junior tabbed four doubles and three home runs, with all three home runs coming on Sunday. Kentucky Wesleyan swept the four-game series with Davis & Elkins, outscoring the Senators 48-11. With the four wins, the Panthers move into third place in the G-MAC standings at 7-5 in conference play and 18-17 overall.

The Panthers return to action on Tuesday as they head to Evansville, Ind. for a non-conference matchup against University of Southern Indiana. Kentucky Wesleyan will then head to Cedarville, Ohio this weekend for a four-game G-MAC series against Cedarville with a pair of doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday, both slated for an 11am CT first pitch.
