The Lady Knights are state tourney bound once again after their defeat of Larue County 82-60 tonight to claim the 5th Region basketball championship! Playing a tremendous first half and jumping out to a 50-32 halftime lead, the Lady Knights overwhelming defense and clutch shots proved too much for the Lady Hawks who in spite of 30 points from Ivey Brown and 23 from Alexis Brewer could never seem to climb back into the game. The Lady Knights were lead in scoring by Makayla Epps with 28 points and 27 by Logan Powell who are both MarionCounty.TV’s Players of the Game! Scoring contributions were made by Haeli Howard who lit up Larue County in the 1st quarter on her way to 11 points, 10 points from Patrice Tonge who played yet another solid game on both sides of the ball, plagued with foul trouble Kyvin Goodin-Rogers was held to 4 points, and Colleen Rakes added 2 points. The Lady Knights are now 35-0 and begin their state run next week in Diddle Arena at Western Kentucky University. Congratulations Lady Knights! 5 down, 4 to go…
