Brandon Berry: A New Card To The Deck

Campbellsville, KY- Coach Richard Gatewood and Taylor County Cardinals got a great addition for the 2014-15 season, Brandon Berry.

Win 5th region boys basketball tournament 2015

Berry a senior transfer from Ballard High School meshed well with the team and showed up and out in the King of The Bluegrass with 28 points and 7 rebounds against #2 Henderson County in a Taylor Co win.

Berry brings a lot to the floor for coach Gatewood and the Cardinals. He is averaging 15.9 points per game and 5 rebounds per game this season.

A versatile 3/4 forward who stretches the floor with outside shooting(35% 3 pt FG)and strong enough to bang down low and clean the glass. Berry gets to the charity stripe quite often with attempts 4.4 per game behind G Quentin Goodin at a 76% clip. The young man has a high basketball IQ and motor.

Brandon a big key to Taylor County’s stifling full court press. He had 6 steals in the first game of the season and continues  harassing opposing ball handlers.

Berry chose a great place to transfer to showcase his talents alongside G Quentin Goodin, PG David Sloan, F Webster, F Ezra Oliver. These 5 won the 20th district and 1st 5th region title since 1983.

Berry and the Cardinals compete for the State title in the KHSAA Sweet 16. The Cardinals play Hopkinsville in the first round Wednesday at 1:30 pm. Berry’s former school(Ballard) is also in the tournament.

No doubt this young man has made a difference and shown mental strength in a key part of his life.

Berry is one of the most underrated or unknown talent in the Sweet 16. Scorer, slasher, finisher, shooter, rebounds,  defense, and high basketball IQ are what Berry adds to the deck of Cards.
