Greensburg, KY—Monday night a small gym in Kentucky was literally electrified by the 5th region semis which Bardstown defeated Etown 62-48 in first semifinal and Taylor County defeated a highly athletic North Hardin Team 65-55.Quentin Goodin Both games were action packed and intense and if one thinks tonight’s final won’t be over the top then stay delusional. It’s the matchup everyone’s been awaiting. Both squads are undefeated in the regional play this year so it will be a dandy!

Taylor Co (27-4) on a 9 game win streak before the regionals is lead by Jr. Quentin Goodin, Sophmore David Sloan, and transfer senior Brandon Berry. All 3 have interests from colleges in state and out and all three have a key role in the Cardinals attack. All 3 average double figures lead by Goodins 21, Berry’s 15.9, and Sloans 12.7. Many weapons and all 3 great shooters and finishers.

Bardstown has a weapon in 5th region player of the year L.J Cowherd, who scored a game high 20 (16 ppg average) and is a Kentucky Mr. Basketball finalistEljay Cowherd Dunks On John Hardin Defender for 2014-15 . The Tigers knocked E-Town out in last year’ title game to claim their bid for state and are looking to make the trick back to Rupp.

The Tigers (21-10) made the 5tih region look like a playground by going online  a 13-2 run against E-Town and nearly perfect from the charity stripe to deal the deal against E-Town. Bardstown surprisingly rebounded with a much larger E-Town team and 16 points by oSantrel Farmer and 13 from Keanu Young help

As what to expect tonight the game will be fast paced with Coach Gatewood’s patented full court press and scoring as many transition buckets as possible, lay ups, dunks or 3 pointers. Taylor County will also depend on role players Ezra Oliver and David Webster to play big down low rebound and defend.

Bardstown needs to limit turnovers that are near the 3 point line or half court or non dead ball turnovers which lead right into Taylor County’s gameplan.

Taylor County is ranked top 10 in the state but both  schools have great coaches, players, and fans but someone has to advance to the state. Whomever that may be will represent the 5th region well.

the game is scheduled for a 7:30 tip off at the Green County gymnasium. If you haven’t seen a game all year I suggest take this one in if you can.
