Caverna HS Girls Varsity Bowling Def Warren East HS 4-1

by Brad Phipps – The Lady Colonel Bowlers were in action tonight against the Raiders of Warren East. The Lady’s got out to a fast start and never looked back. They out bowled the Raiders across the board. The Lady’s were solid top to bottom in this match.

The first head to head game got off to a slow start for the Colonels but they finished strong. Caverna was led by junior Shiana Smith with a 190. Madison Patel (161) and Katy Phipps (160) rounded out the match for Caverna. The Colonels took the 83 pin win in the first match.

In the second head to head, Smith continued to roll the ball well with a 167 (357 series). The Colonels took the second head to head by 18 pins. This netted the girls to a 100 pin cushion headed into the Baker’s matches.

The Baker’s match got off to a slow start for the Colonels but finished very strong. The Colonels finished with 5 strikes in a row to take the 33 pin win. The second match was a great opportunity for a few of the younger players. The last match was not a “W” for the Colonels but the young players stayed in it until the end. The Lady’s wound up with a total pin count of 1217 to take the final point in the match.

The Colonels are back in action next Thursday, 12/17, at Ralphie’s, taking on Russell County.
