Bellarmine swimming wraps up competition at GLVC Championships

The Bellarmine University swimming teams had multiple swimmers score on Saturday on the final day of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships.

On the men’s side, sophomore Marc McCormick placed 12th and freshman James Schwartz 14th in the 1650 freestyle. Sophomore Matthew Pettit claimed an 11th in the 200 backstroke, junior Luke Dobson was 13th in the 200 breaststroke and Pettit, McCormick, freshman Brendon Smith and Dobson were ninth in the 400 freestyle relay.

In the women’s 400 freestyle relay, sophomores Emily Zawadzki and Kathryn Vulich, junior Alexis Gray and senior Caroline Smith placed seventh. Vulich added an 11th in the 200 backstroke as did junior Olivia Hoskins in the 200 breaststroke.

Bellarmine’s women placed eighth out of 10 teams with 178 points, while the Knights men were ninth with 128. Drury won both team titles by over 100 points on both sides.
