For the second time in three weeks Jaylin Tidwell of the Kentucky Wesleyan College softball team has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday. This marks the second time this season that Tidwell has earned the honor and the fifth time that it belongs to a Panther.
Tidwell helped the Panthers go 5-1 on the week including a four-game series sweep over Malone University. The freshman tabbed at least two hits in five of the six games, going 12-for- 25 at the plate.
The Evansville, Ind. native drove in 10 runs, including five in the series finale on Saturday. Tidwell knocked four doubles plus two home runs to move to five on the season. On the week, Tidwell boasted a .480 on base percentage with a .880 slugging percentage.
The Panthers secured a No. 2 seed in the G-MAC tournament this upcoming weekend and will face off against the No. 5 seed Ursuline College at 9:30 am CT on Thursday. When the two teams met earlier this season, the first doubleheader was cancelled due to poor field conditions and the second doubleheader was split.
