Louisville Cardinals Release 2017 Men’s Soccer Schedule

The University of Louisville men’s soccer team released its 2017 schedule on Wednesday and the lineup includes 10 matches against 2016 NCAA Championship qualifiers as well as 10 contests at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium.

The Cardinals, who advanced to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Championship for the fourth time in the last seven seasons in 2016, will face another challenging slate for head coach Ken Lolla’s 12th season at the helm. Louisville’s home schedule includes six matches against NCAA qualifiers – Butler (Aug. 28), Kentucky (Sept. 5), Wake Forest (Sept. 9), Boston College (Sept. 22), USF (Sept. 26) and North Carolina (Oct. 13). The UNC game will also serve as the centerpiece for Cardinals’ Alumni Weekend.

The road side of the 2017 schedule is highlighted by visits to NCAA Championship qualifiers Syracuse (Sept. 15), Virginia Tech (Oct. 6), Charlotte (Oct. 17) and Clemson (Oct. 27). Louisville will begin the 16-match regular season with a pair of home games in August as UC Irvine visits Lynn Stadium on Aug. 25 before Butler arrives on Aug. 28.

The Cardinals kick off the month of September with a road match at Georgia State (Sept. 1) before hosting rival Kentucky on Sept. 5. Louisville, entering its fourth season in the ACC, will open its eight-match conference gauntlet at home against Wake Forest on Sept. 9. That will be followed by the trip to Syracuse, home matches with IUPUI (Sept. 19), Boston College and USF and a road tilt at Duke (Sept. 30).

The month of October will begin for Louisville with its visit to Virginia Tech before back-to-back home matches against Florida Atlantic (Oct. 10) and North Carolina. The final non-conference match for the Cardinals will be the road trip to Charlotte before closing the regular season at home against NC State on Oct. 21 and at Clemson six days later.

The postseason will begin on Nov. 1 with the first round of the ACC Championship to be played on campus sites. The postseason event will continue on campus sites with the quarterfinals on Nov. 5 and the semifinals on Nov. 8, while the championship match will return to MUSC Health Stadium in Charleston, South Carolina on either Nov. 11 or 12.

Prior to opening the regular season, Louisville will play a trio of preseason matches. The Cardinals will host Lipscomb on Aug. 12 and Oakland on Aug. 19, and will face off with Indiana on Aug. 17 in Grand Park, Indiana.
