UK Mens Tennis Bushamuka Ousted From NCAA Singles Tournament in Round of 16

Kentucky men’s tennis junior Will Bushamuka was eliminated from the NCAA Singles Tournament on Friday afternoon at the Dan Magill Tennis Center in Athens, Georgia. Bushamuka was bounced by No. 2 seed Nuno Borges of Mississippi State.

After falling in the first set, 6-4, Bushamuka fired back with a 6-4 win of his own to force a third set. Bushamuka took the first two games of third set before falling to Borges, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

Bushamuka and Borges matched up once prior in the regular season, in which Bushamuka won, 7-5, 7-6 (7-3).

The Princeton, N.J. native will end the spring season at 16-8, with most of his wins coming on the No. 1 court. The junior won four of his last five contests, with two wins in the NCAA team tournament and the NCAA Singles Championships. All of those wins were over ranked opponents on the No. 1 court.
